President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended and delivered a speech at the AK Party Kastamonu Provincial Congress.
“CITIES IN SYRIA AND IRAQ WHERE OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS LIVED ARE RAZED TO THE GROUND”
Recalling that Turkey has been subjected to numerous attacks in the last 4 to 5 years and that many different tools from the separatist terror organization to FETO, from economic hitmen to social chaos engineers have been mobilized to this end, President Erdoğan made the following remarks: “Thank Allah, we joined forces and managed to overcome all of them. However there were some who could not demonstrate the same tenacity, determination and courage. The struggle initiated by the Syrian people to protect their will resulted in a great disaster because of terrorist organizations and those who support them. A similar situation emerged in Iraq. This ancient region, the cities where our true brothers and sisters lived were razed to the ground. We still vividly feel the suffering of Aleppo and Kirkuk in our heart. The Syrian people are made to feel great distress first through the suppression of the oppressing regime inflicting state terror on its own citizens and then through the oppression of DAESH and now through PKK’s extensions.”
Emphasizing that by hosting over 3 million Syrians, Turkey strives to alleviate the suffering to some extent, President Erdoğan recalled that approximately 100,000 Syrians returned to the region between Jarabulus and al-Bab which was made secure with the Euphrates Shield Operation conducted by Turkey. Indicating that they also expect to see a great scale of repatriation once the Idlib operation is completed and that when terrorists are eliminated from Afrin and Manbij, the true residents of these cities shall reclaim their houses, President Erdoğan said, “Afterwards, we shall secure our entire border region starting from Tell Abyad and Ras al-Ayn.”
“WE SHALL SECURE THE REGIONS ACROSS OUR BORDERS”
President Erdoğan made the following remarks: “Our border regions constitute a threat for us as a terror corridor. Nobody can claim that the powers across the border are not terrorist organizations while we host more refugees than the population of the city in Kilis. If everything is fine and dandy in Syria then, why do these 3 million people continue to live on our lands? Because these people and we know that only the names and symbols of organizations change across the border and oppression persists. In the past, the name of oppression was the regime; it was DAESH, now the name of oppression is YPG-PYD. We will do the same thing that we did to DAESH to this organization and we will certainly secure the regions across our borders.”
Underscoring their frustration over the discrepancy between what is promised to Turkey and what is actually committed in the region, President Erdoğan recalled that since the day when a promise was made to Turkey for no longer providing weapons to terrorist organizations in the region, more than 4,000 truckloads of weapons and ammunition have been transferred to terrorist organizations along the Turkish border. President Erdoğan said, “The separatist terror organization continues to get wilder with every passing day due to this support. We are where words fail. From now on, we shall only take actions into account. In Syria, we want to work with the US in the same way we work with Russia and Iran. The issue is whether the US wants to work with us or not. If the US works with us, we would be pleased and we would focus on what we can do together. We wouldn’t hesitate to respond in kind if they take a step towards us.”
“THEY INITIATED THE VISA CRISIS AND THEY ENDED IT”
Indicating that there would be no issues which cannot be resolved between Turkey and the US and that the two countries are strategic partners and are present within NATO, President Erdoğan made the following evaluation: “But instead of taking joint action with your strategic partner, you fight against a terrorist organization in collaboration with other terrorist organizations; how can this happen? Look, they were the ones initiating the visa crisis but now, thankfully they are also the ones ending it, how nice… We did not wish to have such a crisis? Now it is resolved, this is what was supposed to happen. There is no reason for the same thing not happening concerning the Syrian issue.”
Noting that he had proposed the following to the US President, “Why are you collaborating with terrorist organizations? You should assist us by providing air support etc. if necessary we would send two brigades and we would eliminate DAESH in collaboration with the Free Syrian Army. We accomplished this in Al-Rai and Jarabulus, we can do the same thing here as well,” President Erdoğan explained that the US President decided to take joint action with terrorists in accordance with what his generals advised.”
“WE SHALL DEFEAT THE TERRORIST ORGANIZATION IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER”
“Everyone in the region must acknowledge this fact: Soon, we shall defeat this terrorist organization in one way or another. What we demand is nobody getting in our way,” underlined President Erdoğan and stated that the developments in Syria and Iraq may be mere tactical moves for some but for Turkey, every step taken there is a matter of survival.
President Erdoğan said, “We shall not fall into the trap set in this region which commands us to turn our back on our millennia-old spirit of fraternity as we did in the past. With this determination we say; we are strict followers of the Syrian and Iraqi issues until the very end. We share a border of 911 km and 350 km with Syria and Iraq respectively. Can we say ‘do whatever you want there’? We can’t. We are also strict followers of the Libyan issue until the very end. This region has a place in our heart just like the Balkans and the Caucasus.”
