President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the Justice and Development Party’s (AK Party) Mayoral Consultation and Assessment Meeting in Ankara.
Addressing AK Party’s Mayoral Consultation and Assessment Meeting in Ankara, President Erdoğan underscored Turkey’s sensitivity regarding the safety of civilians in the fight against terror, and said: “Turkey is a country that has not made any concessions on its policy of avoiding harm to civilians even during cross-border operations let alone the ones within our borders.”
CIVILIANS HAVEN’T BEEN HARMED EVEN DURING CROSS-BORDER OPERATIONS
Underscoring Turkey’s sensitivity regarding the safety of civilians in the fight against terror, President Erdoğan said: “Turkey is a country that has not made any concessions on its policy of avoiding harm to civilians even during cross-border operations let alone the ones within our borders.
“The terrorist organization and its supporters may be upset by Turkey’s method and recent significant success in the fight against terror but no member of parliament in this country has such a right. Raising an allegation that civilians are being targeted by unmanned combat aerial vehicles, which is the kind of allegation the terrorist organization would want to carry to the international arena, is by no means relevant to politics or human rights.”
President Erdoğan underlined that they will do whatever necessary to protect the country and will equip the armed forces with UCAVs, tanks, artillery and all kinds of weapons.
Recalling how difficult it was to procure UAVs from the US and Israel and then to repair and service them, President Erdoğan said: “Now, Turkey can produce its own UAVs, even armed ones. And they are disturbed by that fact. We will do better things. We are taking important steps. They went crazy just because we made the S-400 deal. What were we supposed to do? Wait for you? We are taking care of ourselves. We are taking security measures and will continue to do so.”
