President and Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the Legislative Year Opening Meeting
President and Justice and Development Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the Legislative Year Opening Meeting with AK Party Deputies in Ankara.
Commencing his speech by wishing success to the parliament, political parties and all the members of the parliament, President Erdoğan said that they attach great importance to keeping the spirit of consensus, which is represented by the 467 votes for the framework law, alive in the new legislative year as well, and added: “More urgently than anything else, we need to establish a social ground that will close the distances among different segments in our country. We hope that our ‘competition in consensus’ proposal will find a response, and that the Turkish politics will show in the new legislative year that a new political style is possible.”
Drawing attention to some of the current economic figures, President Erdoğan noted: “September export figures were announced by the Türkiye Exporters Assembly on October 3. Our exports in September increased by 15.4 per cent year-on-year and reached $26 billion. Our exports in the first nine months reached $211 billion with a 5.2 per cent increase, whereas our exports in the last 12 months reached $283.7 billion. The total of the annualized goods and services exports, on the other hand, have neared $410 billion. We have once again broken an all-time record with these figures despite the conflicts in our vicinity and the global economic recession. We are feeling the pleasure of bringing our exports, which we took over with $36 billion in 2002, to the level of $284 billion.”
