EFKAN ALA

He was born on February 21, 1965, in Oltu District of Erzurum. His father's name is Temel and his mother's name is Gönül.

He completed his primary education in Çanakpınar village of Oltu District and his secondary and high school education in Erzurum Imam Hatip High School. In 1983, he started his undergraduate education at Istanbul University Faculty of Political Sciences Department of Public Administration and graduated from there in 1987. He completed his master's degree in Economics at Karadeniz Technical University.

In 1988, he started to work as a district governor candidate in Sakarya Governorship. After serving as the Deputy District Governor in Bolu's Gölyaka and Isparta's Sütçüler Districts, he studied in England for a year as part of his overseas internship.

In 1991, he was appointed as the District Governor of Trabzon's Dernekpazarı district. Later, he served as the District Governor of Ordu's Kabataş District and Tunceli Deputy Governor for two years.

In 1999, he was appointed as the Head of the Department of Education Department of the Ministry of Interior and later served as the Head of the Department of the General Directorate of Provincial Administration of the Ministry of Interior.

Between 2001-2003, he worked as the General Manager of Tourism Education and the Minister's Consultant at the Ministry of Tourism.

He was appointed as the Governor of Batman on 30 January 2003.

He was appointed as the Governor of Diyarbakır on September 14, 2004.

He served as the Undersecretary of the Prime Ministry, to which he was appointed on September 8, 2007, until December 25, 2013.

He was appointed as the Minister of the Interior of the 61st Government on 26 December 2013. 62 and 64. He served as Interior Minister in the Government of the Republic of Turkey.

He was elected as Erzurum Deputy in the 25th term.

He was elected as the 26th Term Bursa Deputy.

He served as the Minister of the Interior of the 65th Government.

He is currently serving as Chairman of Foreign Affairs.

Efkan ALA is married with two children and speaks fluent English.
