President Erdoğan welcomed Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Abadi with an official ceremony

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi, who is visiting Türkiye, with an official ceremony.

Cavalrymen met al-Zaydi's official vehicle on the avenue in front of the Presidential Complex and escorted it to the protocol entrance.

President Erdoğan welcomed al-Zaydi at the main entrance of the Complex. After the two leaders took their places in the ceremonial area, the military band played the national anthems of both countries.

The ceremony featured soldiers and flags representing the 16 historical Turkic states, accompanied by a 21-gun salute.

Al-Zaydi greeted the Presidential Guard Regiment's ceremonial unit with the words, "Merhaba asker" (Hello, soldiers). The two leaders introduced their respective delegations to one another.

President Erdoğan and al-Zaydi shook hands and posed for the press on the steps in front of the Turkish and Iraqi flags.

Having proceeded to hold one-on-one and inter-delegation talks, President Erdoğan and al-Zaydi will attend a signing ceremony for agreements and a joint press conference following the meetings. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Head of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) İbrahim Kalın, Head of the Defense Industry Agency Haluk Görgün, Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, Chief of Presidential Staff Hasan Doğan, Presidential Secretary General Hakkı Susmaz, Chief Advisor to the President for Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Baghdad Anıl Bora İnan, and Ankara Governor Yakup Canbolat.
