President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the 12th Turkish Medical World Congress and TÜSEB Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Incentive Awards Ceremony in Istanbul.
“REVOLUTIONARY DEVELOPMENTS ARE TAKING PLACE IN THE AREA OF MEDICINE”
Stating that just like in other areas, revolutionary developments are taking place in the area of medicine as well, President Erdoğan said: “Particularly, with the emergence of artificial intelligence and digital technology, significant gains are achieved in every stage of the process, from research and development works to production methods. Today, surgical operations are carried out from hundreds of kilometers away with the help of machines, and the situation of patients are followed from afar. The primary issue we must focus on here is to steer the course, and to constantly pursue the better through our scientific researches, rather than adapting to these innovations.”
“WE PRODUCE OUR OWN MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND DEVICES”
Underscoring that they as the state and the government have been working for this for 24 years, President Erdoğan noted: “We endeavor to strengthen our healthcare infrastructure through our investments, supports and incentives. Especially, with domestic production model in health, instead of importing our medical equipment and devices, we produce them ourselves. We both use at our hospitals and export to 45 countries the mechanical ventilators we produce in Batman with our own means. We send the automated external defibrillators, developed by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with ASELSAN, to 16 countries, and put mobile digital x-ray machines at the disposal of our citizens at our public hospitals.”
“We will make our health architecture much more efficient, much more qualified and much more resilient with all its components. Just as we have made history in defense industry, we will achieve similar successes in the healthcare sector as well,” President Erdoğan said.
