President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Lebanese President Joseph Avn, who is visiting Türkiye, with an official ceremony.

 

Cavalry units met Avn's official vehicle on the avenue in front of the Presidential Complex and escorted it to the protocol entrance. President Erdoğan welcomed Avn at the main entrance of the Complex.

After Erdoğan and Avn took their places in the ceremonial area, the military band played the national anthems of both countries.

The ceremony featured soldiers and flags representing the 16 historical Turkic states, accompanied by a 21-gun salute. Joseph Avn greeted the Presidential Guard Regiment's ceremonial unit with the words, "Hello, soldiers."

The two leaders introduced their respective delegations to one another. President Erdoğan and Avn shook hands and posed for the press on the steps in front of the Turkish and Lebanese flags. Erdoğan and Avn then proceeded to a bilateral meeting and are set to hold a joint press conference afterward.

Attendees at the ceremony included Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Presidential Secretary-General Hakkı Susmaz, Head of the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey) Turkey-Lebanon Friendship Group Mehmet Sait Yaz, Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, Chief of the Presidential Cabinet Hasan Doğan, Chief Advisor to the President for Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç, Türkiye's Ambassador to Beirut Murat Lütem, and Ankara Governor Yakup Canbolat.
