Ömer İLERİ

Information and Communication Technologies

Ömer İleri is a Turkish politician, academic, and engineer, serving as a member of the Turkish parliament for the AK Party and as Deputy Chair responsible for Information and Communication Technologies. Born on January 18, 1979, he studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Boğaziçi University and completed his master’s and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rutgers University in the U.S. After an academic stint as a postdoctoral researcher in Sweden, İleri worked in various technical and managerial roles, including as an R&D Operations Manager at Avea, a Software Engineering Manager at Cypress Semiconductor, and as a Senior Product and Program Manager at Amazon in Luxembourg. Upon his return to Turkey in 2020, he joined Sabancı University as a faculty member. İleri has been influential in digital and technology policy initiatives, such as blockchain and metaverse developments, through his role within AK Party’s Information and Communication Technologies department.
